During the year we hold fundraising events, and free fellowship days where we all chip in and do pruning and maintenance in some of the Public Gardens that we assist in maintaining.  We also list events from our parent website, Heritage Roses In Australia, and Events listed on other websites relating to Roses that may be of interest to you.

"Mostly Roses" a visit to Seamus Johnston's Newlands Rose Gardens

Needles, Hill Road, Newlands

We visited ‘Mostly Roses’, Seamus Johnston’s beautiful rose gardens in Newlands in the South West this time last year. Seamus has kindly invited us to visit again when the roses are at their best. The event is designed to be a casual day, drive yourself and/or a friend by car as NO bus is organized for this day.  Friends can come to this event.  There will be a $5 entry fee per person which Jan will collect from you on arrival at the gardens.   We will meet at 10.30am as the gardens are extensive.

Please wear flat comfortable shoes, take a water bottle and a hat as it can get hot.

‘Mostly Roses’ is approximately 220 kilometres from Perth.  It is south of Donnybrook but before you come to Kirup.  It’s on the left hand side of the road travelling south.  As you come around a bend in the road you will notice roses on a slope in the paddocks, travel a little way further and you will come to the turn to drive into the property.

We will disperse after viewing the gardens around 12 noon and you can either take your own picnic lunch and have it on the banks of the river in Donnybrook or call into a café.

On heading back to Perth you can treat yourself with a stop off at Boyanup and browse the ‘Rustic French Living’ shop. They also have good coffee.

Please advise Jan 0400 132 885 OR EMAIL if you are planning to come to this event.

"Falls Farm History" presented by Pauline Tonkin

41 Cagney Way, Lesmurdie

Join us for a fascinating talk on the origins and history of Falls Farm, and hear how the garden has evolved. Many of us have attended meetings and helped in the rose garden at Falls Farm - but how much do you know about the building's history and restoration? Who started the Rose Garden, why did they, and how did it begin? Why did PRHRiA become involved with looking after the roses? Find out!

Please bring a plate of food to share at lunch, which will follow Pauline's talk.
